I'm pretty sure I have some sort of mental disorder or else one of those diagnostic things that get written up in medical journals and that psychiatrists go to conventions and laugh about. I'm not seeing spiders in my soup, but certain stuff worries me.

Every time I go to a gas station I park, walk inside and say "How about 20 bucks on number, uhh ..." and then I start looking out the window, trying to figure out what gas pump I'm on. The cashier gives me the slack-jawed glare.

I squint and stand on tiptoes and finally spot my car, but of course the pump number is hidden. So I start for the door to go outside to read the number and the cashier growls "Three" and of course I chuckle, but later I wonder: Why do I do this every time? Why don't I ever check the pump number first, and then go inside?

A few days ago I went through the house taking inventory of how many of those cheap (buck each at the Dollar Store) reading glasses I have strewn about. I came up with 16 pair.
